Recently we had the chance to explore the inside of Dinosaur Designs from the creator's point of view. Stephen Ormandy spoke to a body of students at Enmore Design Centre late last month. It was amazing to hear how a beautiful brand which began so small, developed into the world renowned name it is today. Ormandy expressed how slow it was starting out in the design world and the many challenges he faced. As a student, he and two friends began by selling their handmade goods in Sydney's Paddington Markets. Within two years they had a studio in Kings Cross where they sold to stores throughout Sydney and Melbourne. Today their designs are sold over nine countries around the world.
It was their individuality and exploration which made their designs so unique. Ormandy revealed where the inspiration came from and how it was represented in their work. He explained how it was as simple as going back to basics. Their collection 'Earth' was inspired by pebble stones Ormandy found years ago when we was travelling overseas. The creations truly reflect the organic feel and shape. Here at GV Creations we are in love with their pepper grinder from this range!
