SEMI-PERMANENT2013
Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre
I started my morning with a chai in one hand and a sketchbook in the other.
With a blank mind and a strong stride I walked into the Semi-Permanent at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Sydney.
It was here that I sat at the edge of my seat for 7 hours listening to many words of wisdom.
It was here that I sat at the edge of my seat for 7 hours listening to many words of wisdom.
I was fortunate enough to hear from many inspirational designers who have turned their dreams into reality.
Out of the seven speakers I found the first three connected with the audience the most.
For those of you who unfortunately missed out on saturday's event, here is a sample of their works and a little bit abou them.
SANDRA DIECKMANN
womANIMAL
meaning - half woman, half animal
Every mark in her incredibly detailed artworks represents a part of Sandra Dieckmann's life. She creates her works on a completely personal level, expressing her past and pressent through line and shapes. She spoke to us about her history and how if works its way into her art. Her creativity and adventurous lifestyle is represented by what she draws.
MAX DOYLE
Photographer / Publisher / Musician
A 'grizzly' man with a history every photographer would die for.
Max Doyle has worked over the world for many different companies and has explored his creative side through his band 'Songs' and his magazine 'doing bird'. He has shot for Vogue Magazine as their photographer for 5 years and worked with most of the top models around the world.
Here are some snippets of his work -
STAB MAG
Sam McIntosh, Stab Magazine Publisher
When Sam McIntosh began his presentation, the crowd knew he would be taking a more relaxed approach. He warned the audience of his do's & don't in the magazine world, and how ideas dont always go as you plan.
Unfortunately this strategy just left everyone remembering the negatives and not so much the achievements
that the magazine had gained.
However, one technique I found stuck with me was adding a flair to a surfboard. This was the result...
